Gut, hair, thread, paper
8' x 16'
The works seen here show my continued exploration of the relationship between the handmade and the body, creating art that derives meaning from both process and material. Based on one of my great-grandmother’s linens, Gut Lace scales up the lace design into an 8' x 16’ floor piece. Its continuous one-line involves hair and gut in a new process that infuses the actions of my body (and the body materials of others) into a work that pays homage to both labor of process and the memories of bodies absent.
